Use every opportunity

Have you ever wondered what kind of legacy you are leaving behind? We all want to say that our life made a difference, and for many of us it has, but are we fulfilling the mission that God has set before us?

Just the other day my son's close friends lost their mother as she lay down for a nap and didn't wake up. It was a shock to all of us. It seemed so unexpected and surprising. But the truth is, we shouldn't be surprised, really. Death is inevitable for all of us. We are not promised another day on this earth. So, how can we be sure that we are living life to the fullest? Scripture tells us that we should realize the brevity of life so we may grow in wisdom (Psalm 90:12). We are supposed to know and understand God's word so that we may know how to spend our time wisely. So many times, we receive the gift of salvation for ourselves, but we fail to share that gift with others so that they may be saved too. He commands us in Acts 1:8, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” We must ask ourselves, "Am I telling people about Jesus everywhere I go?"

We have so many opportunities to share the gospel. We need not look further than the places that we frequent the most. Our salvation is on display everywhere we go. Do others see Christ's saving power when they interact with us? Does our daily conduct demonstrate that we are a holy and righteous daughter of the King, worthy of the gospel of Christ? We can share Jesus with our friends, our family members, our neighbors and even people we encounter at the grocery store or in line at Starbucks. Sometimes, God places us somewhere just because He can use us in some way to point another person to Him. It's not our job to convince anyone, but it is our job to make the introduction to Christ. God can do the rest. Paul explained it like this. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes." We can do the paving... but God does the saving!

God loves you, and he loves all of the people in your life that don't know him yet. Jesus died for you and he died to save all of them too! So, I am challenging you, and myself as well, to make an effort to share Jesus with at least one person every single day. Of course, it would be amazing if we shared a lot more than that, but God will honor the small steps we take in the right direction. If you are feeling bold, I dare you to share about what Jesus has done in your life on your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or any other social media you have. It may feel new and uncomfortable at first, but the more you do it, the easier it becomes. And you never know who may read your post and that could be the reason someone seeks Him for the first time or even gets saved! God has prepared a great banquet for all of us, and he wants us to invite as many as we can to partake of His glorious gift, here on earth and in eternity in Heaven.

"Then the master told his servant, 'Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full." Luke 14:23
